a good electronic version of a bird book... ... but not really interactive. Works well on my nexus 7 and nexus 4. Clear pictures with sexes and seasons where required, and good descriptive text. A good alternative to carrying the physical book. This has excellent sketches, but don't expect photos. Suggests other similar birds, and BUT DOES NOT LINK TO THEM. You have to return to the index and type the name in! How is that interactive? Why can't I search for another bird from the page of the one that has suggested that similar bird? Compare is only the pictures, and they are NOT to scale. My example problem comparison is winter knot and dunlin. Unlike a book, I cannot hold open two pages and flick between them. I have to go back to the index and search again. And it does not remember what I have searched for before. The sightings log is tortuous. I have tried to use it. For each sighting I have to search for a bird, open its page, choose to Log, pick a location (It doesn't remember even if I have just logged a different bird. It has to use a pop up and then a press on the save icon, and so I cannot type and press enter), and the cursor is in the comments box so I cannot just type a few letters. Then I must pick a d

Useful, but needs UI work As the images, data and calls are all from the RSPB, the quality is quite high. Running the app on a ten inch Asus Transformer does show up one small UI issue. The specie data is squashed in a small box that requires significant scrolling. On a smaller Nexus 7 the data can be popped out on its own making it easy to read. This facility should be there at all times on all machines. Just make the images, calls, and data selectable from the top bar, not just the calls. Also when looking at a bird, there is no indication it has already been added to your personal seen list. Then add more birds and we can give this app the five stars it deserves.

Very good Any mobile birding information has to be good and it saves taking notepad and pen out on a day's birding I'd like to see a link between this app and the rspb site ie log in on your pc to view your app notes maybe ?

Very basic I take it you got a trainee to develop this application. If I wasn't a fan of the RSPB then I would be asking for a refund. You would be better off going to the website. All this thing does is pull a txt box from the website anyway. And it doesn't a rubbish job of that.

Not Good This app crashes every time I try to access the menu at the top. Up date... this bug is now fixed. Now 4 stars.

Very Good Not had it long but it has been great when I'm out. Don't have to remember my books now. Yes could do with some improvements but will take a lot to beat it.

Excellent Very impressed with the speed with which the jellybean problem was fixed, and the very helpful response of the developers. This is the best bird app that I have come across, although as others have said there is still scope food improvement, such as resizing the text. I'd recommend it though.

Pretty good Have revised my review now the jellybean bug is fixed (thanks!). Useful app, pretty well put together. It would be good to have more calls available though and to be able to click on the maps and text to see just these, the way you can with pics. Carrion crow still looks suspiciously like a raven!

Runs on Jelly bean fine After an email to the support team about a week ago they have the crash issue fixed on Jellybean devices. Very quick turnaround. When update downloaded the database was still not visible so uninstalled the reinstalled and all working fine. Layout is okay on tablet text area is a bit small and not expandable like it is only the smaller phone screen. Higher resolution images would also help as can see some artifacts in nearly all images on the nexus 7.
